Hojicha offers a rich, smoky, and nutty profile with a hint of cocoa and a naturally smooth finish. Because the roasting process naturally reduces the caffeine content, this tea is gentle enough to enjoy later in the day. Beyond the classic Hojicha latte, its mild yet distinctive taste makes it incredibly versatile for seasonal creations and baking.

How to Enjoy Hojicha Powder at Home

Prep: Warm your bowl and briefly warm the tips of your bamboo whisk with hot water. Pour out the water and wipe the bowl dry.
Scoop: Add two scoops (1.5–2g) of Hojicha powder and pour in 50ml of water heated to 80°C.
Whisk: Hold the bowl firmly and whisk the powder by moving the bamboo whisk back and forth in small motions until a fine layer of foam appears.
Finish: Give the tea a final, slow whisk in a circular motion, then lift the whisk straight up from the center.
